1918–1921 Revolution and the Civil War

Nurenberg actively participated in the Revolution artistic initiatives. He was the first People's Commissar of Arts of Odessa, head of the Committee for protecting the artistic and historic heritage, organizer of production of placards for the front, etc.

Nurenberg’s style changed correspondingly. The motive abstractness and decorative coloring were replaced by realistic subjects and laconic expression. Nurenberg’s graphical skills were finally shaped.

Some works of this period are in the Tretyakov Gallery, Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, as well as in the State Central Museum of Modern History of Russia — former Museum of Revolution.
